Container Carrier Mol Benefactor breaks record for Panama Canal toll

La Prensa reports here: The Hong Kong-flagged container ship Mol Benefactor has broken the record for the payment of a toll for using the Panama Canal. The vessel, which began its passage of the new locals at Cocolí at 6:21 a.m., will pay $829,468 dollars, according to the Panama Canal Authority.

The partial transit means that the cruise ship just goes up the locks and into the Gatun Lake , stays there for a whole and then head back down the Gatun Locks again and back into the Atlantic (Caribbean Sea). From Youtube: The Celebrity Infinity was making its way from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean through the Panama Canal. This video was taken from a fixed position on the top deck of the cruise ship for more than 10 hours. It shows the whole route and operations with short explanations. The length of the video was reduced to less than 6 minutes.
